The monorail warehouse, Flat Storage, offers efficient use of space by
maximising storage capacity. The
Kanban system allows simultaneous loading and unloading processes in accordance with the
FIFO (First In, First Out) principle, which ensures that goods that are deposited first are also the first to be removed.
Material handling is simplified by the use of transport trolleys, which make material transport more efficient. In addition, the fixed positions of these trolleys contribute to
better orientation in the production halls and warehouses, resulting in
increased efficiency and productivity.
Case study:
The case study illustrates the optimization of an inter-operating warehouse. A warehouse equipped with pallet racks was replaced by a monorail warehouse on the ground.
The aim was to make the handling of the warehouse as efficient as possible.
The result:
- Saving 20% of storage space compared to pallet racking. This is despite the conversion of a 10 m high pallet warehouse to 2 m high Flat Storage.
- Eightfold reduction in operating time for material handling in rails compared to material handling on pallets.
- Increased flow and continuity in the loading and unloading processes due to the possibility of a kanban system where picking and loading can be done in parallel.
- Maximise visibility and overall orientation in the warehouse, including with Pick to Light navigation.
